Milestone Inauguration

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, The American College of Greece (ACG) marked 150 years of excellence with a historic celebration that united heritage and new leadership. The day honored ACG’s enduring legacy while inaugurating Dr. Edward C. Wingenbach as the College’s 8th President—signaling a bold new chapter in its distinguished history.

From its founding in Smyrna in 1875 to its thriving presence today, ACG has stood as a beacon of progress, perseverance, and purpose, guided by its motto Non ministrari sed ministrare—to serve, not to be served.

The celebration began with a distinguished academic procession, followed by a moving journey through ACG’s defining milestones, narrated by Pierce alumna Katia Dandoulaki (Pierce ’65). In his inaugural address, Dr. Wingenbach called on the community to honor ACG’s 150 years “not by looking back, but by using them as a platform to leap forward—together,” outlining a vision of innovation, access, sustainability, and global engagement.

Legacy

From Smyrna to Athens, from 1875 to today, The American College of
Greece has lived its motto — not to be served, but to serve. As we mark
150 years, we honor that spirit not by looking back, but by carrying it
forward into a new century of learning and leadership.
